How a Foam Party Works
Thinking about booking a foam party but not sure what you’re signing up for? Here’s a straight answer to how it all works, what you need on your end, and what to expect on the day.
What Is a Foam Party?
A foam party is exactly what it sounds like. We bring out a foam cannon, fill your space with mountains of soft, bubbly foam, and let everyone jump in. It’s a huge amount of fun and one of the most memorable events you can throw.
Good to know: Foam parties are booked by the hour. Most events run one to two hours, which is plenty of time for guests to play, cool off, and wear themselves out.
Who Is a Foam Party For?
Just about anyone. If you can smile, you can enjoy a foam party. We’ve hosted foam events for:
- Schools and church events
- Birthday parties
- Corporate parties
- Bachelorette parties
- Day cares
- Retirement homes
- And yes, even dog foam parties
Any age can join in. Foam is safe and fun for all of them.
How the Day Works
We handle the whole thing from start to finish. Here’s the flow:
We arrive early to set up. Our team shows up 30 minutes to an hour before your start time so everything is ready to go when your event begins.
We run the party for you. Sonoma Party Rentals staff operate the entire event from beginning to end. We man the foam cannon and keep the foam coming. You don’t lift a finger.
We bring the music. We play music on our speakers throughout the party. You’re welcome to hand us your own playlist, or we’ll bring our family friendly playlist if you’d rather we handle it.
What to Wear and Bring
Keep it simple. Guests should wear swimsuits or clothes they don’t mind getting wet. Goggles can be a fun extra if you want them, but they’re not required. The foam does not stain skin or clothing, so there’s nothing to worry about there.
Space and Setup Requirements
Before you book, take a quick look at your space and check these three things:
Space: We need an area of about 25 feet by 25 feet for the setup and the foam.
Surface: We can set up on any outdoor surface. Keep in mind that grass may get a little muddy during longer parties. We do not typically host indoor events, though it may be possible on a strict case by case basis. Contact us directly if you’re hoping for an indoor party.
Power: We need access to a power outlet within 100 feet. If your nearest outlet is farther than that, no problem. You can add a generator rental for $175 and we’ll handle the power ourselves.
Water: We need a water source within 200 feet. If water access is an issue, we can bring water in on a case by case basis. Please call us directly to work that out, since water haul fees are priced per event.
Is the Foam Safe?
Yes. This is the number one question we get, so here’s the full picture.
Our foam is mostly water, mixed with a heavily diluted professional foam solution made specifically for foam parties. The ingredients are water, glycerin (a plant based ingredient known for being gentle on skin), and a very small, highly diluted amount of a common foaming agent found in everyday personal care products.
The solution is hypoallergenic, non-toxic, biodegradable, and formulated to be safe for kids, pets, and the environment. There are no harsh detergents and no soaps.
In our experience, if anyone does have a skin reaction, it usually comes from something in the environment like grass, lawn fertilizer, or insects rather than the foam itself. Any eye irritation is almost always from sunscreen, sweat, or dirt getting in the eyes, not the foam.
Our standard foam is dye free. When you add color for a themed party, we mix in a separate skin and clothes safe dye only on request.
Types of Foam Parties We Offer
We do more than the classic white foam party. Here are your options:
Standard Foam Party. The original. Clean white foam, a foam cannon, music, and a great time.
Glow Foam Party. We bring black lights and strobe lights, and the foam itself glows. This is a favorite for evening and nighttime events.
Gender Reveal Foam Party. We dye the foam blue or pink for the big reveal. A fun and photo worthy way to share your news.
Bubble Run Foam Party. A safer, cleaner take on the classic color run. A standard color run uses chalk powder to add color. Our bubble runs use foam instead, which is safer and more environmentally friendly. We can dye the foam any of our available colors.
Foam Colors
For colored and glow events, we offer:
- Blue
- Pink
- Orange
- Yellow
- Green
- Purple
- UV foam for glow parties with black lights
Colors are an add-on, so colored and glow foam parties are priced differently from a standard foam party. Reach out and we’ll give you an exact quote for the party you have in mind.
Cleanup
There’s nothing for you to clean up. The foam dissipates on its own after the party, and the ground does not get slippery while it does. When it’s over, it’s over.
What About Weather?
We typically don’t run foam parties during the colder months. Outside of that, rain and cold do not affect the foam in any negative way, so a little weather won’t ruin your party.

- First hour: $450
- Each additional hour: $150
